In January 2024 Sevenoaks District Council's Local Plan consultation ended. The Local Plan includes proposals to meet the District’s future housing and development needs by setting out what can be built and where over the next 15 years.

Residents often ask whether planning permission is required to create a vehicular access to a residential property. A new self-service online tool has been produced by SDC and is now live on their website. Residents can use this tool to find out if their road is classified. They then use the information on our dropped kerb page to decide what they should do next e.g. if they should submit a planning application. The interactive map tool  can also be found by clicking on road classification on the ‘Dropped kerbs’ page of our website:


This maps link (previously known as “constraints”) takes you to a mapping page, where (after you have ticked the box to agree to the terms of use) you can type in an address (or postcode) and tick boxes to overlay any or all of Green Belt; Conservation Area; TPOs etc (and you can zoom in/out).
